In our fast-paced world, stress and anxiety have become increasingly common, impacting both our physical and mental well-being. It makes sense then, that managing stress effectively is essential for overall health. At Burnaby Heights Chiropractic, we offer a holistic approach that addresses physical discomfort with both chiropractic and registered massage therapy treatments, which leads to better stress management and can contribute to improving mental health.

Understanding Stress and Its Effects

Stress is a natural response to life’s challenges, but it can lead to various health issues when it becomes chronic. Physical symptoms of stress often include muscle tension, headaches, and fatigue, while mental health impacts can manifest as anxiety, irritability, and difficulty concentrating. Understanding the mind-body connection is crucial—stress can affect our emotions and how our bodies function.

Research has shown that stress hormones, such as cortisol, can create a cycle of physical and mental distress. Continuous stress can lead to symptoms of discomfort, stiffness, and even pain in the spine. The more chronic stress becomes, the more it can affect the nervous system’s ability to regulate stress responses. This is where chiropractic care plays a pivotal role.

How Chiropractic Care Helps

Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the spine and the nervous system. Dysfunction between segments of the spine can lead to exacerbating stress and anxiety symptoms by perpetuating symptoms of stiffness, soreness, discomfort and pain felt in the spine stat is being caused by stress as well. The two different causes of those symptoms are stacking on top of each other, and it makes the symptoms worse. By performing precise spinal adjustments, Dr. Forest Eaton (the chiropractor at Burnaby Heights Chiropractic) aims to restore proper function to the spine and reduce those symptoms..

These adjustments help reduce your symptoms and promote optimal function. As a result of having their symptoms of stiffness, soreness, discomfort and pain lessened, many patients experience a profound sense of calm and relaxation after their sessions. Regular chiropractic care not only alleviates physical symptoms but also contributes to improved mental health by fostering a balanced nervous system.

Reducing Muscle Tension

One of the immediate benefits of chiropractic adjustments is the reduction of muscle tension. Stress often manifests physically, particularly in the neck, shoulders, and back. By addressing these areas, chiropractic care can help break the cycle of tension that contributes to stress and anxiety. Patients frequently report feeling more relaxed and less anxious after treatment.

Enhancing Sleep Quality

Chronic stress can significantly impair sleep quality, leading to a vicious cycle of fatigue and heightened anxiety. Chiropractic care can help improve sleep by alleviating pain and discomfort, allowing for deeper, more restorative rest. Improved sleep has a direct positive impact on mental health, helping to regulate mood and reduce irritability.

Complementary Therapies

At Burnaby Heights Chiropractic, we understand that holistic treatment goes beyond just spinal adjustments. We also offer registered massage therapy, which can be an excellent complement to chiropractic care. Massage therapy helps to relax tight muscles, improve circulation, and promote overall relaxation. By incorporating chiropractic care and massage therapy together, patients can experience enhanced even more relief relief.

Additionally, we provide guidance on lifestyle modifications, including exercise, nutrition, and mindfulness practices. These elements are essential in managing stress and promoting a healthier lifestyle. Techniques such as deep breathing exercises, yoga, and meditation can further enhance the benefits of chiropractic care.

A Holistic Approach to Mental Wellness

Chiropractic care should be part of a broader approach to managing stress and improving mental health. While it is not a standalone treatment for mental health conditions, it is a valuable component of an integrated wellness plan. Chiropractic care can enhance the effectiveness of traditional mental health therapies by addressing the physical symptoms of stress and promoting relaxation.

If you are struggling with stress or anxiety and seeking a natural, holistic approach, consider consulting with our team at Burnaby Heights Chiropractic. Our experienced practitioners are dedicated to helping you achieve optimal health and well-being.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the role of chiropractic care in managing stress and improving mental health cannot be overstated. Focusing on spinal health and nervous system function, chiropractic adjustments can alleviate physical symptoms of stress, support mental well-being, and enhance overall quality of life.

Chiropractic care can help relieve pain and is very effective in treating many painful conditions including neck pain, sciatica, and lower back pain. This article will tell you what to expect from your first chiropractic visit, which will usually include a thorough history and chiropractic exam and, in some cases, the start of your chiropractic treatment.

Feeling nervous about your first chiropractic appointment is normal because you’re unfamiliar with the process and don’t know what will happen once you arrive. Putting your mind at ease by knowing what you can expect will get you one step closer to improved health.

Consultation & Assessment

At Burnaby Heights Chiropractic this first appointment will generally last about 45 minutes, and follow-up chiropractic appointments will be shorter and may last about 20 minutes. During your first in-office chiropractic visit, you will be asked to fill out forms to provide background information about your symptoms and condition. Dr Eaton will ask you lots of questions about when your pain started, where you feel it, and if it is due to an acute injury. You will also be asked to describe the pain—is it sharp pain? Throbbing pain? Does it come and go? Do certain activities make it worse? You will be asked about your family’s medical history and any pre-existing medical conditions you may have. Finally, you may be asked about any previous or current treatments other health professionals provide.

Chiropractic Exam

The second portion of your visit will include a physical examination focused on your area of pain, which may include general tests like blood pressure, reflexes and pulse. Dr Eaton will also assess the range of motion of the affected area, muscle strength and muscle tone, as well as performing various physical orthopedic tests to help determine the nature of your specific issue. You will be asked to move in a specific manner to allow the chiropractor to assess the affected area, but if you are not comfortable at any time during any of this process you can ask to stop.

X-Ray & Diagnostic

The third portion of your chiropractic visit may include diagnostic studies. This can be helpful in revealing pathologies and identifying structural abnormalities to diagnose a condition more accurately. This portion will be based on the patient’s history and chiropractic exam results; an X-ray is the most common diagnostic study used during the first chiropractic exam, but is not always needed. It will only be requested if the chiropractor has good reason to believe it will provide important information regarding the patient’s treatment program.

Once the chiropractor has the information they need from the patient’s history, physical examination and diagnostic tests, they can then determine a specific diagnosis. Once this is established, they can confirm if chiropractic care can help with that condition. For example, fractures, infections and tumours cannot be treated with chiropractic care and will require a different treatment from a specialist. If chiropractic care can help treat the condition, they will discuss the next steps and when you should book a follow-up appointment.

By the end of a patient’s first chiropractic visit, you will receive an explanation of the diagnosed condition along with an individualized chiropractic treatment plan. The chiropractor will also discuss the anticipated length of chiropractic care, and you may receive this information verbally or in written form.

Conclusion

Do you have questions regarding your first chiropractic visit? Dr Eaton here at Burnaby Heights Chiropractic will tell you what you can expect, and he will take the time to answer your questions or address any concerns. We understand that some patients may feel hesitant about scheduling an appointment if they don’t know what to expect, but we will provide you with all of the information you need.

According to the World Health Organization, at least 50% of all adults aged 18-65 have experienced a headache in the last year.

The causes of headaches can vary, but they are generally caused by excessive strain on muscles or nerves in the head and neck region and high stress levels. There are several types of headaches with different causes, duration and severity.

Chiropractor in Burnaby: What Causes Headaches?

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, headaches caused by stress are the most frequently occurring primary headache disorder. They’re not considered a serious medical condition and are treatable with chiropractic care.

A headache is a common complaint among many who handle stress daily. Numerous types of headaches can be induced by stress, and tension headaches are the most common type.

If you experience frequent, persistent or intense headaches that affect your quality of life, it’s time to look at what could be causing them. If you want to try an alternative approach before reaching for pain meds or other drugs, consider seeing a chiropractor in Burnaby to help with your headache issues!

The three most common headache types include tension, migraine, and cluster headaches.

Tension-Type Headaches

Tension-type headaches are the most common, characterized by tightness or pressure around your head and neck. They may feel like a band around your head or like someone is squeezing your temples.

You may also experience muscle pain, neck and shoulders stiffness, dizziness and nausea. Tension headaches are often caused by:

Holding your head in a particular position for too long (i.e., keeping it in one spot for too long while reading)

Injuries to the neck area such as whiplash or sports injuries like tennis elbow or carpal tunnel syndrome

Poor posture while sitting at a desk for long periods (or even playing video games)

Stress in life (work, personal relationships, etc.)

Stress at work, home or school

Skipping breakfast or lunch

Frequent migraines

Lack of sleep

Fatigue

Tension-type headaches affect an estimated 29 percent of Canadians. These headaches are caused by stress and tension, and several factors can trigger them.

An active lifestyle can help prevent tension headaches—so ensure you’re getting enough exercise daily!

Stress headaches are caused by tension in your upper back and neck muscles, which pressure the surrounding nerves. This pressure can cause pain in your head/neck region but is usually located behind or around one eye.

The good news is that while they may be uncomfortable (and certainly inconvenient), they do not pose a significant health risk—so long as you begin taking preventative action. Continual poor posture and high stress levels have been shown to contribute to long-term health complications.

How a Chiropractor Can Help

The good news is that visiting a local Chiropractor in Burnaby can help you mitigate the physical stressors contributing to your headaches. You don’t have to live uncomfortably or constantly take pain medications. Working with a Chiropractor can help reduce muscle tension and soreness in the neck, shoulders, and upper back regions. Your chiropractic treatments from an RMT in Burnaby will have lasting effects at the physiological level to help you reduce the occurrence of headaches.

As your muscles are able to relax, they release a buildup of lactic acids and other toxin buildups from constant tension. When you work with a registered chiropractor in Burnaby, the specific treatments and massage therapy will help stimulate new, nutrient-rich blood flow to your muscle tissue in these problem areas, helping to reduce tension and improve your body’s circulation.

With improved circulation, you’ll also experience stress relief as your body releases endorphins and serotonin, hormones to help with mood regulation and pain relief. Chiropractic treatment will also help reduce your heart rate and lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels.

Chiropractor in Burnaby

Dr. Forest G. Eaton

Dr. Forest G. Eaton has been a Chiropractor in Burnaby for over ten years and grew up in the region. You will receive honest and transparent guidance, advice, and quality care from a trusted local chiropractor.

If you’ve been suffering from stress-related headaches lately, consider making an appointment with a registered Chiropractor in Burnaby who can help relieve your symptoms so you can get back to living without pain!

Massage Therapy in Burnaby

Tim Gropen

Tim Gropen is our Registered Massage Therapist in Burnaby who can assist with your headache relief and injuries from motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, TMJ, and many other conditions.

Pregnancy is a beautiful journey, but for many women hitting the gym is not a priority during this time. Exercise during pregnancy will provide you with several benefits, including the following:

It can reduce the risk of pregnancy-related complications

Exercising while pregnant can lower the chances of developing conditions like gestational diabetes. If you do develop this condition, staying active will help keep your insulin levels in check.

It can improve heart health

Exercise will strengthen your heart and blood vessels which will help your body prepare for the physical changes and challenges you may face. This includes labour and delivery, so remain active to improve your stamina and heart health.

It can lower blood pressure

Your blood pressure can increase during pregnancy, and staying active can help prevent this from happening. Something as simple as going for regular walks is exercise, and can help tremendously.

It will improve your mood

Depression during pregnancy is common as is anxiety, and many women will experience these feelings while expecting. Exercising during pregnancy helps to boost your mood because endorphins get released, which will help improve your mood as well as diminish stress and anxiety.

It will help fight exhaustion

It’s very normal to feel tired throughout your pregnancy, and while exercising may sound contradictory, an easy walk or prenatal yoga classes can help improve your energy levels. Sometimes, getting too much rest will make you feel more tired, and while you shouldn’t push yourself to the point of exhaustion, you should exercise to some extent.

It can ease back and pelvic pain

A growing baby bump will put extra pressure on your body, often resulting in back pain and an achy pelvis. Strengthening these areas can help relieve that discomfort, but be careful, as you don’t want to make any moves that may worsen things. Focus on safe exercises through a pain free range of motion..

It can improve sleep

Pregnant women generally have a harder time falling asleep but exercising may also improve your sleep quality, resulting in you waking up feeling better and more rested.

It can relieve constipation

Exercise will help keep you regular as an active body will encourage active bowels, and even a quick, ten-minute stroll can help.

It can lower the chances of delivery complications

Women who exercise during pregnancy are less likely to have macrosomic babies, which is vital because heavier babies can lead to complications for both the mother and their baby during delivery.

It can help with recovery

Exercising during pregnancy will allow you to recover faster physically after the birth of your baby. Additionally, you will also feel fit after the delivery, so you will feel better overall and have an easier time establishing a routine.

If you require any hands-on treatment to help ease the aches and pains that are often associated with pregnancy, we here at Burnaby Heights Chiropractic can help. Our registered chiropractor and massage therapist will help you feel your best, and we will do what we can to eliminate discomfort and pain. Don’t hesitate to contact us today to schedule an appointment!

The post Benefits of Deep Tissue Massage Therapy appeared first on Burnaby Heights Chiropractic.

If you are experiencing muscle soreness, stress or pain, deep tissue massage may be the perfect solution. Firm pressure and slow strokes massage the deep layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding your muscles). The massage therapist will start with light pressure to warm up your muscles and then apply deeper pressure. This type of massage is particularly effective to break up scar tissue and muscle adhesions.

Patients will experience several benefits after deep tissue massages, including an improvement in their physical and mental health. Deep tissue massage is very effective, and the following are just some of the benefits associated with this treatment:

Stress relief

Deep tissue massage is an effective way to unplug and relax as this type of massage will help lower cortisol levels and increase oxytocin levels, a hormone that relaxes the body while producing soothing effects. Deep tissue massage will also help with physical symptoms of stress, including tight muscles and shoulders and tension headaches, by addressing these issues and helping your body relax.

Pain reduction

Deep tissue massage can help treat several conditions that cause pain, including plantar fasciitis, fibromyalgia, stiff neck and chronic pain in your lower back. This kind of massage will lessen muscle tension which occurs with chronic pain and can loosen the tight tissue clusters causing you pain. Many people believe that deep tissue massage is more effective for relieving chronic pain than medication or other medical treatments, so it’s worth considering.

Lower blood pressure and heart rate

Deep tissue massage reduces stress and tension, affecting blood pressure. Massage has a positive impact on diastolic, systolic and arterial blood pressure, but it can also increase the production of serotonin, which is known to produce good feelings and happiness.

Easier movement

Scar tissue will lead to chronic pain and stiffness, and deep tissue massage will help break up this scar tissue by improving drainage and lymphatic circulation, which will improve your flexibility and range of motion. It is recommended that people recovering from surgery get deep tissue massage because it can minimize scar tissue.

Reduces arthritis symptoms

Pain, stiffness, sleep issues and limited range of motion in joints are all symptoms of arthritis, and deep tissue massage therapy can be used as treatment. Moderate pressure will be applied to reduce pain and ease the tension, which will make it easier for patients with arthritis to move around. People with arthritis often struggle to sleep, and this type of massage can also improve sleep issues by alleviating pain that would otherwise keep you awake at night.

A chiropractor can help with neck, back, and joint pain and this treatment can provide you with relief. Your spine will be adjusted during these sessions, and manipulations will be made so that your body can heal. Depending on the severity of your condition or pain, gentle stretches or more intense pressure may be applied.

Chiropractors have the skills and knowledge to deal with your muscles and the nerves that control them. Back pain, headaches, and sports injuries are familiar conditions and can treat them by correcting your body’s structural alignment. This will improve function, and if they see that your alignment is off, they will help you increase your range of motion in your spine and joints to prevent additional health problems and to restore your well-being. In addition to adjustments, chiropractors use other treatments as well, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, heat and ice, lasers and therapeutic exercises. The goal is to help realign you and promote healing in tissues damaged by structural imbalances.

Chiropractors can do more than just “crack” a patient’s back, and while this treatment can be very beneficial, there are certain situations where medication or surgery may be a better option. Chiropractic treatment is not appropriate for broken bones, dislocations, infections, cancer or tumours, or osteoporosis. As well, if you suffer from any visceral conditions such as high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, or any chronic degenerative diseases like Parkinsons or multiple sclerosis, you should seek traditional medical treatment for those conditions rather than chiropractic care. Seeking chiropractic treatment if you have some of these conditions may be more than just ineffective, it may be quite harmful.

It’s important that you understand when chiropractic care is beneficial and when it is not, because this will help you find the right treatment to help with your specific condition. In some cases, even if the condition itself cannot be treated by a chiropractor, you will still be able to see one because their treatments can be done alongside traditional medical care, and may be beneficial in treating joint and muscle symptoms you are also experiencing as a part of something else. Chiropractic care is more than just spinal manipulation, and you will receive advice on healthy habits like exercise and nutrition as well. You can improve your lifestyle by incorporating chiropractic care as part of a holistic and whole-body approach to your health, which will help you effect a positive change in your well-being and your life.

Chiropractic care can be complementary to other treatments, but it’s important that you discuss your medical history and health issues openly and honestly with your chiropractor so that they are aware of your situation and any conditions you are dealing with. This will allow them to assess you properly, and they will discuss whether or not you are a suitable candidate for this type of care.

At Burnaby Heights Chiropractic we want what’s best for you. We truly care about our clients. Whether you are looking for a licensed chiropractor or registered massage therapist, we can help. Don’t hesitate to contact us!

There is no better feeling as a golfer than finishing up a great round. Although, as any golfer knows, it can really take a toll on your body, especially the back and hips. Chiropractic care for golfers is a great way to stay comfortable on the green for longer periods of time.

Why see a chiropractor?

Many professional golfers, including Tiger Woods himself, have undergone surgery to correct back issues after injury and extreme pain. Even if you have yet to sustain an injury resulting from golf, don’t wait until one happens to visit a chiropractor. The last thing you need is to tee up, swing, and feel a pinch in your back. Golfing engages many parts of the body for extended periods of time, making golfers susceptible to misaligned spines, joint pains, and muscle aches.

What do chiropractors do?

Chiropractic care ensures that your body is functioning at maximum potential. Chiropractors use adjustments to correct biomechanical issues in the back and neck. Chiropractors also correct hip misalignments within joint and skeletal structure. For soft tissue related issues like muscle knots and pain, your chiropractor may suggest massage therapy to work out the muscles. Chiropractic treatments are safe and effective, but should be performed consistently to maximize effectiveness. In other words, as nice as it would be, you can’t go to a chiropractor once and be rid of all the pain. It takes time and patience to work your body back to its optimized state.

What can you expect from your appointment?

At your initial appointment, Dr Eaton will assess your situation, and come up with a treatment plan based on your needs. He will ask you about lots of different things including what activities you do, what your work environment is like, and any pre-existing conditions you might have. These are all important factors in determining your overall health. Once your initial assessment is over, you can get started with treatment. If you have more alignment issues, you will likely be dealing a lot more with a chiropractor than a massage therapist. If your pain or concerns revolve around the muscles, an introduction to massage therapy may be advised.

Golf can be a very intense sport and take a toll on the body. Visiting a chiropractor regularly will not only decrease your back and hip pain, but might make you even better at golf. Call Burnaby Heights Chiropractic today, we look forward to seeing you in a green jacket!

Foot pain will affect the way you stand and walk and this type of pain will prevent you from going about your day and completing your daily routine. Foot pain must be addressed so that you can move comfortably again and custom orthotics can help in this regard. They are specially designed to be placed into shoes to help align your foot and ankle bones into the most optimal position. This can help reduce your discomfort and pain significantly, so that you can function more normally.

Custom orthotics are made from various materials and act like an interface between your shoe and your foot. This can reduce stress and strain on your legs and hips whenever you stand, walk or run. They are designed specifically for your own feet, so they will fit into your shoes easily and you will very quickly notice the difference they make, not just to reduce pain, but also fatigue while performing your daily activities. Foam, a 3D scan or plaster cast can all be used to design your custom orthotics, and each method works equally well to produce a custom, one-of-a-kind orthotic just for your feet.

Those who suffer from arch pain, foot pain, back pain, knee pain, bunions or hammertoes can all benefit from custom orthotics. Orthotics play a key role in managing any one of these conditions. Orthotics would also help those whose occupation requires them to stand for long periods of time, as this, too, can lead to foot, knee, hip, and lower back pain. If this is something you are interested in, a chiropractor can help. Their knowledge will help them recognize imbalances in your feet and lower body, and they will recommend custom orthotics accordingly. It’s important that you discuss your issues with your chiropractor so that they can determine whether or not you may benefit from orthotic correction, then they perform a complete biomechanical assessment of your feet and lower body to confirm if you are or are not a suitable candidate for orthotics.

Custom orthotics can help with plantar fasciitis by adding support to the arch of the foot, which helps decrease the stress on the plantar fascia and reduce inflammation and symptoms over time. In many cases, orthotics can eliminate the pain entirely if you suffer from this type of pain. Custom orthotics can also help with Achilles tendonitis by altering the mechanics of your foot and easing the stress on your Achilles tendon, which would help lessen the workload on your Achilles tendon and let inflammation and pain dissipate over time.

Custom orthotics will provide additional comfort and stability to your feet and work with most pairs of shoes so long as they are wide and deep enough to accommodate the device. The bottom line is that custom orthotics can help with foot pain. Burnaby Heights Chiropractic can provide you with more information. Dr Forest Eaton, the chiropractor, has materials and know-how available to cast custom orthotics, and would be happy to talk to you about your feet related issues. Contact us today!

Spending time in isolation and in quarantine has not been easy, and for
many of us, these changes have taken a toll on our minds and bodies.
Prioritizing both our mental and physical health is a must and we need to
maintain an active mind, active body and an active home during these trying
times. These things are not always easy to do but the following tips will help
guide you in the right direction:

Make A Routine

Most
of our day-to-day routines have changed because of this pandemic but it is
important that you still maintain some form of routine because it is healthy.
You must stay active and create new alternatives so that you maintain some form
of normalcy, which will allow your mind and body to remain active. It may be
tempting to lounge all day while you’re at home but you have to resist this
urge as this can cause you to go down a very unhealthy path. Try to go to sleep
and wake up at the same time you normally would every day and eat healthily.
Take a shower and change into different clothes so that you don’t get used to
staying in your pajamas all day. Establishing a routine
will allow you to remain positive and upbeat.

Make Sure You Stretch

Get
up and stretch every hour and you will instantly notice a difference in your
mood and attitude. Stretching will help you stay awake and will prevent you
from feeling down and lazy. It will also help you maintain circulation while
preventing stiff muscles and joints. You can also learn some yoga and new
stretches because more time at home will provide you with the perfect
opportunity to learn a new routine and this will help you achieve your goals
while remaining active. Stretching and exercising are extremely important for
your mind and body, so incorporate them into your new schedule. Even if your
workout routine is short, it is better than just sitting on the couch all day.

Find A Hobby

If you’re working fewer hours or need a
mental break, a hobby is a great escape. This is the perfect time to try new
things and to explore new ideas because you likely have a bit more time on your
hands. Look into hobbies that will get you moving and remember that even small
movements count. For example, knitting is great for arthritis and dexterity, so
it may be worth a try. You can also try puzzles, furniture restoration or can
get really adventurous and attempt to learn a new language. Hobbies will help
keep you occupied and active, so make sure you explore this aspect.

Chiropractic care can also help with your body and mind and Burnaby Heights Chiropractic can provide you with more information. If you are looking for the nearest registered chiropractor or an RMT in the Burnaby area, give us a call today!

Massage therapy doesn’t just do wonders for your aching back or sore shoulder, it can also help to treat any foot pain you’re experiencing. When you go to visit a registered massage therapist, here’s exactly what they’ll do to help soothe your foot pain.

Fatigue

If you’re on your feet all day, it’s likely that they’ll start to ache over time. Are your feet tired and sore all the time? Then visit a registered massage therapist, as they’ll have the extensive training to help alleviate pain and discomfort. This treatment, in addition to exercises or stretching your feet, will improve their overall health.

Foot Injury

This is probably the most obvious cause of foot pain. Whether it happened from playing sports, in an accident or from clumsiness, an injury to any part of the foot is going to cause some level of pain or discomfort. Registered massage therapists can target foot ailments and injuries in order to relieve tension within the muscles and ligaments in the area. This will help to improve your mobility, especially when combined with specified foot exercises.

Plantar Fasciitis

You’ll likely be diagnosed with plantar fasciitis is you’ve recently overused your plantar fascia (the balls of your feet). You’ll experience muscle fatigue, excessive tension and overall discomfort that’s likely to increase if you don’t seek treatment. This condition can be brought on by running, prolonged standing, dancing, weight gain or wearing poorly fitted shoes. Massage therapy treatments will help to relieve pain and allow your feet to heal more effectively.

Referred Pain

Sore or injured tissue can create other problems throughout your body. Due to any limits in your mobility, an injury to one area of your body can transfer that pain to another area. Say you have a knee injury, those muscles are now tense and sore, affecting your mobility. Because of this change, you’ll need to shift your movements to compensate for the limitation, putting extra weight on your feet or hips. This change in alignment can cause the foot to ache in places it’s never ached before. A registered massage therapist will help to identify what’s contributing to your pain and create a custom treatment plan to alleviate your discomfort.

Pronated or Supinated Feet

If you have pronated feet, it means that they naturally roll inward, whereas supinated feet naturally roll outward. This can contribute to a large amount of foot, calf and ankle pain. While it might be painful, it will only cause a problem with your mobility in extreme cases. Orthotic referrals can help with this issue, but so can massage therapy. It brings pain relief to the strained areas as well as aids in strengthening muscular structure and support going forward.

At Burnaby Heights Chiropractic, our registered massage therapists in Burnaby, BC are dedicated to helping patients heal within a relaxing environment.
